World Password Day – Strengthen Your Digital Defences with SECUREIT
At SECUREIT, we’re passionate about protecting what matters most — whether that’s your property, business, or digital assets. On May 1st, we were proud to support World Password Day, an annual reminder of the critical importance of strong passwords in safeguarding both personal and business accounts.
While many people associate SECUREIT with physical security systems such as CCTV, fire prevention and access control, we know that in today’s interconnected world, cyber-security is just as vital. Weak passwords and human error continue to be the number one vulnerability in cyber-security breaches globally. That’s why it’s crucial to ensure that your digital security is as robust as the locks on your doors.
Here are SECUREIT’s top five tips for creating and protecting secure passwords:
- Use long and complex passwords
A strong password should be at least 12 characters long and include a mix of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. - Avoid common words and personal information
Never use easily guessable details like birthdays, pet names, or the word “password.” These are the first things hackers try. - Use different passwords for each account
Don’t reuse passwords. If one account is compromised, using unique passwords ensures others remain safe. - Consider a password manager
Password managers can generate and store complex passwords securely, so you don’t have to remember them all. - Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA)
Whenever possible, add an extra layer of protection by enabling MFA — this requires a second step (like a text code or app notification) to access your accounts.
As a company that delivers physical, digital and cyber-security solutions, SECUREIT is here to help keep your entire security ecosystem safe. From AI-powered CCTV to networked access control and expert advice on cybersecurity best practices, we ensure your people, property and data stay secure.
