Protecting What Keeps You Working: Tackling Van and Tool Theft in South Wales
At SECUREIT, we rely on our fleet of vans and vehicles to deliver critical fire prevention and security solutions across South Wales. That’s why we understand—first-hand—the frustration and disruption that tool theft from vans causes to hardworking tradespeople.
Recent reports have highlighted just how widespread the issue is. According to NFU Mutual, more than three-quarters of tradespeople have experienced theft from their vans. A similar survey by Screwfix found that 66% of tradespeople have had tools stolen or vans broken into.
The cost of theft goes far beyond just replacing tools—it can severely impact your ability to work, cause delays for clients, and lead to significant financial loss. As a business that works closely with trades and construction professionals, we’re committed to helping reduce this risk through smart, proactive security measures.
Here are three simple but effective steps we recommend:
1. Remove tools from vehicles overnight
It may be inconvenient, but it’s one of the most effective ways to prevent loss. Always take high-value tools inside when vehicles are unattended for extended periods.
2. Park with purpose
Where possible, park in well-lit, secure locations—ideally behind locked gates or within compounds equipped with access control systems and monitored CCTV.
3. Install a tracking device
Should the worst happen, GPS tracking systems can help recover stolen vehicles or tools quickly and provide vital information to authorities.
At SECUREIT, we offer reliable, advanced security solutions for individuals and businesses across South Wales, including Cardiff, Newport, Bridgend, Swansea, Llanelli, and Merthyr Tydfil. Whether you’re looking to protect a single van or a whole depot, our systems are designed to give you peace of mind—day and night.
